How we score every review

Every rating on Mywebcamstrip comes from hands-on testing against a published checklist. Here are the criteria, the weights and what each score means, so you can check our numbers for yourself.

5-point scale
Each criterion is scored 1–5 in 0.1 steps
5 weighted criteria
The same weights for every category, adding up to 100%
Re-tested every 6 months
Or sooner after a major price or product change

How we test

Our content reviewers use each platform the way you would, over at least two sessions on different days, before giving it a score.

  1. 1

    Fresh account, real payment

We sign up as a regular user with a new email address and pay with our own card at list price. We do not use press accounts, extra credits from the platform or advance access.

  2. 2

    Fixed test script

Every site in a category goes through the same checklist, on the same devices, at comparable times of day, so scores are comparable.

  3. 3

    Evidence for every score

We keep dated notes, room counts, timings and screenshots for each criterion. The "How we tested" box on every review shows who tested the site, when and on which devices.

  4. 4

    Second-reviewer check

A second editor reviews the notes and scores before publishing. Any criterion where the two disagree by more than 0.5 is tested again.

Live cam sites: scoring criteria

For cam sites we focus on the live experience: stream quality, how many performers are online, what a real private session costs, and how safely the platform handles your payment details and data.

What we check

  • Live rooms counted at three set times (weekday afternoon, weekday evening, weekend night, CET)
  • Share of sampled rooms streaming in HD (720p or higher) and full HD (1080p), plus buffering and audio/video sync
  • Spread of categories, languages and regions, and how deep the search filters go
  • Show types and extras: private, group, Cam2Cam, interactive toys, fan clubs, recorded content

What each score means

51,000+ live rooms at peak, mostly HD, and a wide range of show types
4500+ live rooms, mostly HD, good filters

How the overall score is calculated

Each criterion score is multiplied by its weight and the results are added together. The total is rounded to one decimal place and is the overall rating shown at the top of each review.

Worked example
  • Features & Content: 4.5 × 30% = 1.350
  • Pricing & Value: 3.2 × 25% = 0.800
  • Privacy & Safety: 3.4 × 20% = 0.680
  • Ease of Use: 4.0 × 15% = 0.600
  • Customer Support: 3.0 × 10% = 0.300

Total 3.73 → overall rating 3.7 / 5

Score caps for trust and safety problems

A site with a great product can still be a bad deal. If we find any of the problems below, the overall score is capped regardless of the weighted total, and the review explains why:

  • Unclear billing, hidden auto-renewal or a cancellation process that is hard to find: overall score capped at 3.0.
  • No working age verification (for performers on cam sites, or for users on AI apps), or no clear way to report content: overall score capped at 2.5.
  • A security or privacy issue we confirmed and that remains unfixed: overall score capped at 2.0 until resolved.

What the overall rating means

4.5 – 5.0ExcellentBest in its category; easy to recommend.
4.0 – 4.4Very goodStrong choice with minor trade-offs.
3.0 – 3.9GoodWorks well for some users; check the cons.
Below 3.0FairClear problems; better options exist.

Independence and updates

  • We earn affiliate commissions from some of the sites we review. Commission rates are never shared with reviewers and do not affect scores or rankings.
  • Platforms cannot pay for a review, a higher score or a better position in our lists.
  • Reviews are re-tested at least every six months, or sooner after a major price or product change. The date of the last test is shown in the “How we tested” box on each review.
  • If we change this methodology, affected reviews are re-scored and this page is updated.
